Home Styling: Where to Shop in Singapore

When I landed in Singapore in 2010 I stepped off the plane with not much more than a couple of suitcases. Much to my excitement one of my first tasks was to go furniture shopping. Unfortunately, I quickly realised that finding great furniture and homeware in Singapore wasn’t such an easy task. I had no idea where to go and I just couldn’t seem to find what I was looking for. So it was off to IKEA I went and I spent the next two weeks perfecting the art of the flat-unpack. Fast forward seven years and my, how things have changed (including my living room which thankfully no longer looks like a Scandi show home). In the last few years there has been an explosion of boutique homeware stores popping up in Singapore, offering a fabulous range of gorgeous furniture and homeware from all over the world.

I caught up with interior designer and fellow NMSG-member Kate Gallagher and asked her to share her top spots for homeware shopping in Singapore:

Originals

An ex-pat favourite from way back this is still one of the best places in Singapore to find great quality, unique furniture at reasonable prices. Originals specialises in natural teak wood furniture and Asian-inspired contemporary pieces and if you’re the kind of person who prefers to look at furniture up-close before you buy then you’ll adore their 6000sqf showroom at 896 Dunearn Rd. originals.com.sg
